The 2008 Instructor Conference was held at Chasewater Sailing Club with over 50 instructors, principals or chief instructors attending. This was the first conference for Gareth Brookes in his roles as West and East Midlands Regional Development Officer. The conference was also supported with a number of the Midlands coaches and trainers running sessions on the water.

JohnThorn (National Sailing Coach) spoke to the conference regarding the current sailing, power, windsurfing and cruising schemes and carried out an update on the latest thoughts for these schemes. HQ are keen that we raise the profile of sailing as a fun sport and gave us an insight into how HQ are looking to promote the fun aspects of the sport through alternative marketing techniques.
